Curly weave

The pros and cons to weaving your hair and wearing it natural all depends on your lifestyle. If you opt to having hair extensions to add fullness and length, you should bear in mind that adding long heavy extensions can put pressure on your scalp. If the hair is long and heavy, may result in puling hair out, and may cause long-term damage in the form of thinning and pre-mature balding. So make sure the person that does it for you does it right and does it professionally and every now and then, you should give your hair a weave break for at least 2 weeks without having any hair extensions!

You should also treat your extensions just like you would your own hair. When having your weave sewn in, you can wash it along with your natural hair. Unfortunately, weave hair can get brittle and dry because it is not attached to the scalp and therefore doesn’t receive any of the body’s naturally nourishing oils. To get this look you need either synthetic 18 inch hair deep weave or go for the 100% Human hair 18 inch Italian weave.

Hair color...

A lot of care is needed when it comes to having hair colour or hair dye. For African hair type which has been relaxed first is regarded to have been processed before dye. The first thing you have to do is to find a reputable salon that either specializes in hair colouring or Afro hair treatment. Before you have all your hair dyed ask to have a strand test done to see the strength of your hair to take the colouring service.

Once your hair strength is confirmed, the next thing to consider is the tonal choice and the method to which the colour will be applied. The most recommended way is highlights; it gradually eases into the hair colour change and also gives minimum hair damage.

For whatever option you go for, it is important that you regularly visit professional stylist for the right treatment for chemically treated hair, to keep your hair and colour in great condition.

In case you did not like the colour or at some point you got tired and impatiently want your original colour back, seek experienced technician to make the corrections. And it is advised to have some intensive treatments before and after re-colouring so as to avoid any further damages.

Habits to drop for beautiful skin

The fast track to a clearer complexion; Avoid:

  • Bad blend of products: sometimes people use products that react with one another, or cancel each other out, or that have a lot of the same ingredients therefore doubling up, and causing harm to the skin. Try not to use too many products, or at least don’t layer them on all at once. You can use them at different times in the day. Also, make sure that the products you choose are appropriate for your specific skin type. And don’t overdo it, too much of anything is not good!
  • Using dirty makeup applicators: this one is obvious, the dirt will clog your pores and result in breakouts. You can use gentle shampoo once in 3 weeks to wash your make up brushes and leave them to dry over night. You can also use disposable applicators. Using your hands is not a good idea either, because every time you put your fingers in a product, you are contaminating it. It is best to tilt the bottle than to put your hands into it.
  • Talking too much on the phone: the part where your phone touches your cheek gets grimy and dirty, and phones become hot with too much use. The mix will cause breakouts, so if you talk on the phone a lot, invest in a good headset.
  • Pinching zits: tempting, but detrimental – it will lead to pushing the bacteria deeper into your skin, therefore prolonging the life of the pimple. It also leads to scars and infection.
  • Neglecting to wash your face before you sleep: skin cells regenerate very fast in the night, and makeup and the dirt and grime that sticks and builds on your face would marinate in the heat build up when you sleep and the results of this blend are not pretty. Always wash your face with face wash.
