Tafrija hii ya hisani itafanyika Oktoba 1, 2011 kuanzia saa 1:00 usiku katika ukumKivukoni uliopo kwenye hoteli ya Movenpick Royal Palm.

Katika tafrija ya kwanza iliyofanyika mwaka jana katika hoteli ya Double Tree by Hilton, kiasi cha shilingi milioni 15 kilichangwa na nusu ya fedha hizo zikapelekwa CCBRT kwa ajili ya kusaidia upasuaji wa fistula kwa wanawake waliokuwa na uhitaji wa tiba hiyo na kiasi kingine kikapelekwa katika Kijiji cha kulelea watoto cha SOS kilichopo Dar es Salaam ambako fedha hizo zilitumika kuchangia ada kwa watoto waliokuwa wakipata elimu katika kijiji hicho.

Kupitia tukio hili, tumeamua kutoa elimu kwa umma kuhusu maradhi haya yanayotibika ya fistula ambayo kwa karne nyingine yamekuwa na athari mbaya katika utu wa mwanamke. Ni jambo la kheri kwamba, hospitali ya CCBRT imekuwa ikitoa tiba ya bure kwa wanawake na hivyo kuwarejeshea utu ambao umekuwa ukitishiwa na maradhi haya.

Hospitali ya Amana kwa upande wake inakabiliwa na tatizo la maji inayosababishwa na uchakavu wa mabomba ya maji safi na maji taka, wenye uwezo mdogo wa kusafirisha majitaka hali inayoathiri ufanisi katika shughuli za usafi kwenye maeneo ya karibu na hospitali hiyo. Iwapo mfumo huo utaimarishwa, hospitali itaimarisha uwezo wake wa kutoa huduma bora na salama kwa wagonjwa na wafanyakazi na hivyo kudhibiti maambukizi kwa kuzingatia viwango vya Shirika la Afya Duniani (WHO) na Wizara ya Afya na Ustawi wa Jamii.

Hospitali ya Amana inahudumia wastani wa wagonjwa 1,500 kwa siku na watoto wapatao 100 wanazaliwa hapo kila siku. Hospitali hiyo inakabiliwa na tatizo la kukosekana kwa vyanzo salama vya maji na mfumo duni wa majitaka, hali ambayo ni ya hatari kwa utendaji kazi wake. Hospitali inahitaji kisima kimoja cha maji kitakachojengewa pampu ya kusukuma maji na kuboreshwa kwa mfumo wake wa majitaka ili kuimarisha hali hii mbaya iliyopo sasa.

Tafrija hii ya hisani ya mwaka jana lilikuwa ni yenye mafanikio ya kutia moyo. Tunaamini jamii inaiunga mkono dhamira yetu hiyo njema na kuungana nasi tena katika tukio la Oktoba Mosi ili kusaidia kufikia malengo tuliyojiwekea.

Analyzing your daily activities and the effect you are trying to achieve are important in perfume choice. You have to note whether you are in for an elegant look, casual or a sports look.

Your perfume selection should also be guided by the price, product concerns and the length that perfume will last. The Eau de Perfumes (EDP) and Eau de Toilette (EDT) are about the amount or concentration of oils in the fragrance. Perfumes require less application and last for eight hours because they contain more oil and less alcohol, thus giving them longer life span. Eau de Toilettes, on the other hand, require more application to achieve the desired scent and will last for about four hours due to its high alcohol concentration.

People with dry skin usually find their fragrance holding time shorter than those with oily skin because of the natural moisture of the oily skin that holds in the fragrance. All in all, there is nothing good like a woman smelling as good as she looks.

Fragrance should be applied to pulse points. This is where blood vessels are closest to the skin surface hence give off more heat and act like mini fragrance pumps.

5 Pulse points for applying fragrances

Behind ears- apply lotion before applying your perfume.

On neck- spray perfume before putting on any clothes or before wearing jewelries.

Wrist- do not rub your wrists together because it won’t allow the scent to develop naturally with your body chemistry.

Behind the elbow and knees- although this might not typically be preferred but it’s application can result to a good scent.

To finish, you can spray a small amount of perfume into the air in front of you and walk through it, and this way your whole body will be immersed in a light spray of scent.

Apply fragrance evenly on your body or apply to pulse points
Apply fragrance once in the morning and re-apply for an evening out
Fragrance should be kept away from excessive heat or cold. An opened bottle should be kept in its box to ensure longer shelf life
Consider body oils that can match your natural scent and body chemistry. Apply the fragrance while wet, directly out of the shower.
You should know your daily needs and activities before purchasing a new scent.
If you apply on spritz of perfume in the morning and you can still smell it in 30 minutes then one is enough for the day.

Everybody in today’s life is seeking for a perfect and beautiful face be it men or women. And with that effect most cosmetics company have taken note of providing quite a number of skin care products to suite the clientele and their demands.

But before we look at the products, let us see how best you can keep your skin healthy and young:

While cleaning your face, use products that are specifically meant for the face and not otherwise. Plain soap is very harsh for the facial skin, and even for the rest of the body because of it alkaline element which is quite opposing the skin’s acidic nature. Most especially the medicated soaps that we use tend to not only take away the dirt and harmful bacteria from the body but also the essential moisture and protective emollients. It is therefore advised to use gentle shower gel for everyday use for the body and facial cleanser.

After cleansing the skin, you should condition it. On your face the recommended products are the toner followed by a moisturizer and as for the body a body lotion works best for this purpose. Believe you me, skipping this step is very common today’s young people, but the effect can be negative in the near future. After cleaning or washing your skin tends to lose moisture and feel dry even though it does not seem or look dry to you, in the long run this dryness contributes to premature age lines and wrinkles.

For all this not to happen to your skin you need to use the following products:

The skin needs to be moisturized, it doesn’t matter what skin type you have. There is the belief that people with oily skin do not need moisturizer simply because their skin is naturally oily, but this is a misconception the natural oil does not replace the moisture. In fact if applied correctly the moisturizer can help balance the oiliness of your skin. Consider whichever type of skin product you use should match your skin type; therefore you should be very careful with the content in the product. For instance if you are buying a product with high level of emollients and lubricants, make sure your skin is either dry or normal but not oily skin. But most of these products also specify the skin type they are meant for.

Toners:

Besides washing your face with soap and water, toner is also part of the cleansing process. Toner is used after you have rinsed all the soap or face wash from your face and patted dry your skin. It helps remove all the cleanser’s residue and leave the skin feeling fresh and it also reduces the sizes of the pores making the skin appear more refined.

Astringents:

These can be used instead of toners for excessively oily skin. It also helps skin pores to tighten and hence make skin look glowy and intact.

Scrubs:

They are good for skin exfoliation. Containing the sand like particles, they cleanse to remove dead skin cells and blackheads. It is recommended to be used twice or three times a week because they are abrasive.

Masks:

There are several types of masks that can either be used once a week or once in two weeks. There are firming masks, gritty masks and peel able masks; they are all good for removing dirt and oil from the skin pores and for removing surface flakes. Usage of mask should be followed by a moisturizer.

Makeup removers:

Either in fluid form or cream form they should be applied to the skin and then rinsed off or wiped off by tissue. It is best to use products that do not require you to rub your skin with tissue, especially for the skin around the eyes which is very delicate.

A few weeks ago, I call the Shear charity ball saw fashionistas and various NGOs come together for a good cause. The dress code was a bow-tie affair. Our fashion police could not help but notice that although everybody was smart to the dot, few made little mistakes that can be put in place. Today; we introduce you to statement necklaces that would fit your ball gown. Bold necklaces seem to have made steam with ball gowns. They are popular and look very elegant in making a statement and work well to enhance one’s look.

The geometrical necklace is one of those necklaces worth having. Striking geometrical shapes like triangles and squares are a very creative way of creating a pivot hot look for a ball gown.

A quieter, yet still fashionable piece is the charm style necklaces embellished with squares and diamonds linked together to create a pattern. It is even more beautiful with colored stones or pearls.

Obviously, other jewelry should be kept to a maximum say the earrings and cocktail rings but the necklace does not have to be as busy as the ball gown. All you have to do is wear jewelry that compliments the dress and yet create a focal point for the look in style.

The main thing to recall when it comes to statement necklaces is to break all the rules! Go gigantic, bold, bright and stunning but don’t get the trend wrong. Keep in mind that the gown will require attention too. So, next time you are required to dress up for a ball, you know better!

A wide toothed comb
Sulphate free shampoo
Conditioner
Leave in conditioner
Detangle hair in small bits using a brush.

When washing, fill bucket or sink with cool water.
Put desired amount of shampoo in the sink or bucket
Let it sink for 3o minutes
Rinse the unit holding the hair but not inside the cap
Refill water in the sink or bucket
Put desired amount of conditioner and sink for 30 minutes
Rinse and let hair air dry

Note

It is important to keep hair moisture since it is not receiving natural oils from the head. When hair loses moisture, it creates split ends and this happens to the wigs too. It could turn your expensively real hair into a raggedy look so have extra time for it.

August 6th saw two joint events which brought out the best of both worlds-Fashion, Hair and Beauty then Music. First, Shear Hair and Beauty Magazine launched her 6th copy. It is a Bi-monthly product so look out for the next copy in early October.

Then we had the sweet Lady Jay Dee celebrating 10 years of her music career. The concert contained a lot of symbolism and reality as Lady Jay Dee was the first to cover Shear Hair and Beauty’s maiden issue and was a good way of showing how both have come a long way and still going strong.

Lady Jay Dee has always been a fashion icon. In this picture, one would simply love her trendy hairstyle.

Yesterday, the world celebrated World Widows' Day, something which was encouraged by Humanitarians and concerned people the world over. Among the front runners of the recognition of such days is Mrs. Cherrie Blair, wife of the former British Premier Tony Blair. See, Cherrie was not just a pretty face on number 10 while her husband went ahead to represent his country in honor, she is a successful Barrister, a philanthropist, a humanitarian, a mother and a sister who has stood up for women rights.

There are so many celebrities and ordinary citizens who have stood up for women's rights too especially the helpless widows and women in general. In countries where women have not been allowed access to jobs, this plight has reached a concern. There are various ways in which every individual can make this world a better place and turn make the universe beautiful from the inside out. Here are a few suggestions and examples of people who have created beauty in their works and can encourage us to stand up for the helpless.

Cherrie Blair

She has specialized to fight for human rights, employment, European law and arbitration. Her foundation, matrix chambers looks to provide improved services to widows and under privileged women. You too can stand up and represent your community by first off showing concern against mistreatment and abuse at community levels. Be the voice.

Oprah Winfrey

She believes that for a community to live harmoniously and with life longevity, nature comes first. Her Green belt movement has earned her recognition on the global platform and she has given women hope to stand up for their rights. Wangari is a living example of persistence. Many widows are side lined and not included in environmental issues. They in the end have land and property taken away from them. You can learn from Wangari and help a widow in your neighborhood by supporting her.

Maeza Ashenafi
Maeza Ashenafi is an Ethiopian women activist who has led for freedom of the undermined Ethiopian women and against cultural taboos against women. She is a voice for the voiceless at the united African Nation’s University. You too can join emancipation groups and fight against injustice through your group.

Tanzania women's media Association is another group of women who have created a platform to fight for women's rights. The group specializes in fighting for fair portrayal of women in the media among other activities. You too can help fight stigma in areas where women are portrayed as the weaker sex. In this day and era, women have stood up for equal rights and that should be the case.

To sum all the above, women have come a long way to fight against injustices such as domestic violence, incest, forceful take over and psychological torture through abuse. It is therefore all of the community's rights to protect its members and we as Africans should put this under consideration in order to create a peaceful and loving, more beautiful environment to live in.
